TERMS OF REFERENCE

Prequalification Roster for Trainers/Facilitators

Background

Organizational Background Action Aid International Somaliland (AAIS) is part of a global federation working to end poverty and injustice with thousands of communities and millions of people across the planet guided by its strategy ‘Action for global Justice’ that ensures coherence, aligning with the poor and excluded people, reasserting women’s rights, strengthening accountability, and building resilience against shocks & hazards. AAIS has been operating in Somaliland for over 28 years, implementing integrated programs on women’s rights, humanitarian response, resilience building, food security, and education. AAIS implements several protection programs through its engagement with communities, women, and youth groups, with the goal of empowering them and ensuring safe spaces for them within their communities and providing referral pathways for the survivors of violence.

AAIS works in over 200 communities across the country delivering services on Women’s Right (GBV, Economic empowerment, political participation), Humanitarian response, Resilience livelihood and access to education for vulnerable children especially girls.

Objectives And Scope of Work

Somaliland exhibits a pronounced susceptibility to natural disasters and the impacts of climate change. The agricultural sector in Somaliland is significantly affected by climate change, which in turn has effects on food security, hygiene, water supply, and sanitation (WASH), protection, and preparedness for humanitarian responses. The phenomenon of climate change is anticipated to intensify apprehensions regarding food security through its impact on agricultural output, modification of supply networks, and escalation of food prices. This requires individuals to possess adaptability and engage in continuous learning. Ongoing capacity building is a crucial component in fostering knowledge acquisition and learning within targeted communities, as well as enhancing resilience during the ongoing activities of ActionAid in Somaliland. The goal of capacity buildings is to offer specialized information and guidance across several subject areas. As result, ActionAid International Somaliland (AAIS) aims to establish a prequalified pool of trainers/facilitators who possess the requisite competence, expertise, and technical knowledge in the following thematic categories:

  1. Agriculture and Innovative Farming Techniques
  2. Climate change and Adaptation Measures
  3. Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR)
  4. Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH)
  5. Women’s Rights with particular focus on women economic empowerment, GBV, FGM,

Protection, and safeguarding

  1. Humanitarian Response programming
  2. Business Management and Entrepreneurship
  3. Advocacy, lobbying and Campaigning.
  4. Digital Media and Communication

The Roster Timeline:

The designated prequalified roster will be valid for a duration of three years, during which the chosen prequalified individuals will be notified and contacted as necessary.

 

 

Skills and Qualifications

Eligibility Criteria:

The applicant should possess a relevant MSc degree in the sector for which he or she is applying.

Expertise in facilitating training workshops, creating training materials, producing narrative reports, and managing workshops.

Excellent communication and dissemination abilities as well as fluency in Somali and English languages

       Expertise in managing training, including time management, adaptability, and an emphasize on ability to effectively respond to participant's inquires during training.

Comprehensive knowledge of Women’s empowerment, Women’s rights, and feminist approaches.

Expertise in quantitative and qualitative analysis techniques.
