Background
Islamic Relief Somaliland (IRS) has been operating in Somaliland since 2010 and has responded to conflict and drought affected people through provision of life saving assistance. Through our projects, IR has continuously been providing safe drinking water, improving hygienic sanitation facilities, increasing hygiene awareness, particularly to ones living in IDP camps; empowering the urban poor and distressed working children, engaging in conflict management and mitigation and strengthening of community cohesiveness and co-existence in areas work.
JOB SUMMARY
A watchman/security guard is responsible for maintaining the safety and security of a designated area or property. They play a crucial role in preventing theft, vandalism, and unauthorized access. The job requires constant vigilance, attention to detail, and the ability to respond quickly and effectively to emergencies or security incidents. The Security guard will directly report to the Security Officer. h/she will do all security related activities in the field office under the direct supervision of the Security officer and the office in charge.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Access Control: Verify the identity of individuals entering the premises, such as staff members, visitors, or delivery personnel. Enforce access control policies to ensure only authorized personnel are allowed entry.
2. Patrol and Monitoring: Conduct regular patrols of the premises, both interior and exterior, to deter criminal activity and detect any security breaches. Monitor surveillance systems, alarms, and other security equipment to identify potential threats.
3. Incident Reporting: Promptly report any security incidents, accidents, or suspicious activities to the appropriate authorities or supervisors. Maintain accurate documentation of incidents, including written reports and log entries.
4. Emergency Response: Respond swiftly and appropriately to emergency situations, such as fires, medical emergencies, or security breaches. Follow established protocols and procedures to mitigate risks and protect people and property.
5. Crowd Control: Maintain order and manage crowds during events or busy periods. Ensure compliance with safety regulations and address any disruptive or unruly behavior.
6. Security Measures: Implement and enforce security measures, including locking and unlocking doors, activating, and deactivating alarms, and securing sensitive areas. Regularly inspect and test security equipment to ensure proper functioning.
7. Customer Service: Provide excellent customer service by assisting visitors, answering inquiries, and directing them to the appropriate locations. Act as a friendly and professional representative of the organization.
8. Training and Awareness: Stay updated on security protocols, procedures, and industry best practices. Participate in training programs to enhance knowledge and skills related to security management, emergency response, and first aid.
9. Safety Compliance: Monitor and enforce compliance with safety regulations and policies. Identify potential hazards or safety concerns and take appropriate action to mitigate risks.
10. Team Collaboration: Collaborate effectively with other security personnel, staff members, and external stakeholders. Maintain open communication channels to share pertinent information and coordinate security-related activities.
11. Responsibility to monitor the movement of IR Vehicles when they enter or leave the office premises. He/She must consistently sign the vehicle release form and promptly notify the management if there is no justifiable reason for the vehicle's movement
Skills and Qualifications
Requirements:
• Minimum Secondary school certificate
• 2 years of security guard or related field experience
• University degree is an added advantage
