The 2nd National Employment Creation Forum of the year 2022 was held in Hargeisa
Convened 2nd National Employment Creation Forum of 2022 with the participation of the government institutions, the private sector, and our development partners. The ongoing skills development interventions, nationwide TVET & livelihoods programs, Employment & internship opportunities created, the private sector efforts, government interventions towards creating an enabling environment and the upcoming 2022 Job Fair were among the Presentations and the areas that the forum has discussed. The Director-General of the Ministry of Employment, Social Affairs & Family of the Republic of Somaliland Hon. Abdirashid Ibrahim Sh. Abdirahman chaired the forum.The partners have presented the progress that has been made in the implementation of the ongoing programs; Hydroponic gardening project, LEAD, Next-Economy, Upshift, Work in Progress, GIZ’s Reducing disaster risks and improving the nutrition situation in ‘Somaliland’ – economic component, GIZ’s Rehabilitation of technical and vocational education and training in Somaliland program and the EU’s Inclusive Local & Economic Development (ILED) programs.
The Somaliland Private Sector plays a vital role in Somaliland's employment creation efforts – the Chairman of the #Somaliland Banks Association has presented the various employment creation efforts that the banks implement to support the Somaliland youth and those that are willing to start a business through their microfinance and Qardul Hassan systems.
The forum interventions created thousands of various opportunities for young women and youth through the establishment of youth centers, innovation hubs, job & internship placement, grants, and boot camps. One of the fascinated pilot programs that are going on this quarter is Hydroponic gardening skills development – a method of growing plants without soil.
